So Jeremiah went with the remnant to Egypt when they weren’t supposed to (Jeremiah 43:8). Why did he do that?

If you examine verses 5-6 closely, But Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces took…” (a lot of people) “…and Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah.” So they “took” Jeremiah with them. They had accused him of being a traitor (verse 3,) so they may well have taken him by force, whether he liked it or not.
